Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone! Here is a post that trails the trail by quite a bit due to the holiday.

Simply put, the last days of trail in Tennessee were serene:
It was quite a sight to approach the Roan Highlands again, this time from the North:
To return to the Roan Highlands, this time for a mere six-mile, day-hike loop, was extra special. Why was it a day hike, you ask? Well, it served as the perfect victory lap for Bougie’s completion of her Appalachian Trail flip-flop! Congrats to Bougie for joining the thru-hiker class of 2023!
What a place for a picnic!
This section of trail included some goodbyes, as Bougie & I bade farewell to No Joke, Reset, Mice, Electro, & Dr Jay as they continued their treks southbound:
Where does that leave me? Well, Bougie is going to help me finish off my 2,000 miles by slackpacking me next week through the small section I skipped in her native NY & NJ, after a holiday break from the trail.
Of course, the return to Roan meant another visit with Dustin. It was fun to see Dustin, Tosha, and their girls in Boone. I had long wanted to convince their girls to celebrate Cashmoney’s return to 19-E with our own dance version of “My money don’t jiggle jiggle” but unfortunately there wasn’t time to do so. So, the following generic videos must suffice. (No progressive bluegrass this time.)
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving dinner somewhere. I’m pretty sure you are going to need to go clothes shopping when you return, you are shrinking. Safe travels, it’s getting cold here.
